A refreshing FASHION x ART show
Hong Kong fashion designers present eco designs at historic Copenhagen museum
Fashion Hong Kong, an initiative launched by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to promote Hong one fashion labels on the global stage, made its recent stop at the Copenhagen Fashion week on January 31, featuring four leading Hong Kong designers, Kenax Leung, Vickie Au, Kay Li and Dora Chu.
With the bespoke quality finish and premium fabrics, KAY LI aimed to capture the characters and attitudes of a distinctive women. "The Great Expectation" was a collection that evoked the mixed feelings of independence and candor of a bride in an arranged marriage. The rich palette of deep red, blue black, and gold evoked Chinese traditions but the overall styling remained modern and bold.
"I've been experimenting on how my label can contribute to sustainability, using zero-waste cutting and organic fabrics in my collections. This time I developed a few showpieces in which the wearer can change the color of the laser-cut pattern easily themselves by downloading the graphic. The idea is to reduce labour, shipping and packaging to minimise impact on the environment."
